Short Nite: Watching movies in Fortnite during in-game film festival
Fortnite is organizing an in-game film festival, Short Nite, this weekend, where more than 10 short films can be seen for free.
The past year has been dramatic if you like events. In fact, nothing could continue because of the pandemic. Of course, this also applies to film festivals. Fortnite, on the other hand, has a solution for that, as Epic Games is organizing an in-game film festival called Short Nite. Players can watch a number of shorts (short films) for free during the event.
Fortnite Short Nite Film Festival
The Short Nite film festival will start on Saturday, February 20 at 8:00 PM (Dutch time) and is freely accessible via Fortnite. All you have to do is start Party Royale mode. Epic Games posts a detailed explanation of how to watch the movies in-game. Take a short turn in Party Royale to the westernmost end of the map. There you can find the big screen where the shorts run.
It concerns more than 10 animated shorts, namely: Bench, Makin ‘Moves, Rollin’ Wild, Car Park, Maestro, Oktapodi, A Single Life, Catastrophe, Commuter Glitch, Creature Comforts and Lynx & Birds. Movies with dialogue have subtitles in the language you set. You have to turn on subtitles via the settings.
From Saturday 20:00 you have 24 hours to watch the films. They run continuously one after the other; it takes only 30 minutes in total. If you also want to pop something while watching the film, you can also view the shorts picture-in-picture during the regular battle royale.
It is not the first time that Fortnite has embraced movies. Last year, films by director Christopher Nolan were already shot in the same place. Epic Games also hosted a record-breaking concert by rapper Travis Scott. While the Fortnite Short Nite film festival may not be as epic as those two previous events, it is nonetheless a fun alternative to all canceled film festivals.
