Instagram has launched a new subscription that gives you a blue check mark behind your username for a fee. That’s how expensive Meta Verified is on Instagram.

Have you always wanted to have the blue check mark behind your username on Instagram? Then there is good news, because it has recently become possible to pay for verification on Instagram. By taking out a subscription, also known as ‘Meta Verified’, you get a number of benefits. One of those benefits is the blue verification logo, as we saw earlier with Twitter.

With the subscription, the company wants to improve user authentication on Instagram. At the moment there are a lot of fake accounts active on Instagram, which you have probably noticed in the comments under a message. In the future, it should therefore be possible to better distinguish between these fake accounts and real accounts. It is not (yet) possible for companies to take out Meta Verified.
That’s how expensive the subscription to Instagram is
The subscription to Instagram is quite expensive, because you pay no less than 16.99 euros per month for Meta Verified. After you pay for the subscription, Instagram will confirm your identity within 48 hours. To identify yourself, you must upload a valid ID. The first and last name of your profile must match, just like the person in the profile picture.
With Meta Verified you get a number of other benefits in addition to the verification logo. This way you get extra account security and more stickers. You also get access to direct account support, which gives you help from a member of staff if you have any problems with your account. The subscription to Instagram does give you a few new options, but the question is how often you use those functions.
This is how you close the subscription
Do you want to add Meta Verified to your account on Instagram? The subscription has now been released in a large number of countries, including the Netherlands. To unsubscribe from Instagram, open the app and go to your own page. Tap the three horizontal lines at the top right and choose ‘Meta Verified’. You then close the subscription by tapping on ‘Subscribe’.

Meta Verified is not only available on Instagram, but also on Facebook. On Facebook you get the same benefits with the subscription as on Instagram. The subscription for Facebook is currently being rolled out worldwide and is not yet available in the Netherlands. It is expected that Meta Verified will also come to Facebook here soon.
