You can now put multiple work locations per day in Google Calendar

Handy for anyone who works hybrid, or just many different locations per day: Google now lets you set up multiple work locations for the same day in the Calendar. So you no longer have to be in one place all day: or at least, choose the place in Calendar where you spend most of the day.

Google Calendar

Previously you could always only choose one work location and that meant that it sometimes became a bit unclear for yourself where you were at what time. Now that will be different. Especially now that we work in a hybrid way and sometimes work from home in the morning and go to the office in the afternoon (for example for a certain meeting that really needs to take place face-to-face), it is useful that you can also indicate this in Google Calendar.

It’s not so much just useful for yourself when you look back: it’s especially useful for your colleagues. You can indicate where you are at what time in advance, so that people who want to schedule a meeting with you know immediately whether they need to add a Google Meet or find a meeting room at the office for the appointment. They know if you’re there or not, so they can send you more specific invitations. That saves a lot of emailing back and forth, or even worse: moments when the colleague comes to the office especially for the meeting, while you are online in your bathrobe behind your kitchen table in your bunny slippers.

Google writes that there is another advantage to this innovation: “In addition, if you have delegated access to someone’s Google Calendar, you can now fully edit the work locations for the entire day or for specific parts of the day for that calendar. This update is especially useful for people who manage other people’s calendars, such as executive assistants.”

You can expect the feature with a Workspace account in the Enterprise, Education, or Nonprofit class. If you use Google privately, this option will unfortunately not come to you. Do you have an account that should get it, but don’t see the option yet? Then wait a little longer: Google will roll it out until the end of this month.
