This is how you can block individual words

Spam messages on social networks can get annoying pretty quickly. But on Instagram, you can block individual words to limit spam.

Annoying spam messages and comments from bots are probably the most annoying things on social networks. But Twitter, Instagram and Co. have not yet found a way to solve these problems.

But you can do something about spam messages and bot comments on Instagram yourself. We’ll show you how to better protect your account and how to block certain words on Instagram.

Block Words: Stop Spam on Instagram

Are you annoyed by numerous links, comments or direct messages from spam accounts on Instagram? Then you can do something about it with just a few settings.

How to restrict links

For example, if you no longer want to be linked to spam photos, you can limit the options for links.

To do this, navigate to your profile and open your settings. Under Settings and Privacy you will find, among other things, the menu item Tags and mentions.

Here you can choose who can tag you in photos or videos, or mention you in stories, comments or captions. You can choose from three options here:

• Allow flags or mentions by everyone
• Allow tags or mentions of people you follow
• Don’t allow flags or mentions

You also have the option of manually approving flags one at a time.

More privacy for your inbox

You can also limit the flood of spam messages in the inbox. To do this, you must also navigate to the Settings and Privacy section. Click here for news and story replies.

In the settings for messages you can then determine whether new messages should end up in your inbox. You will then find these in the requests – but if you do not want this, you can also decide not to receive requests.

You can also set restrictions for group chats. Here you can choose who can add you to group chats:

• Everyone on Instagram
• Only people you follow on Instagram

Block specific words in comments on Instagram

If you are struggling with spam comments under your posts, you can also block individual words on Instagram. These can then no longer appear in comments.

To do this, go to the Hide Messages/Comments sub-item in the Settings and Privacy menu. You can block the words you want on Instagram in the “Own terms and phrases” area.

This works for both comments under your posts and message requests. If they contain the terms or emojis from your list, Instagram will hide them.
