Jailbreak: Cydia alternative Sileo updates for iOS 17
Sileo, the alternative to Cydia to install tweaks, updates in version 2.5 and in particular offers support for the jailbreak of iOS 17. There are also other new features.
It is worth noting that there is not yet a public jailbreak tool for iOS 17. This week, the team behind the Palera1n tool managed to jailbreak an iPad running iPadOS 17 thanks to the Checkm8 flaw. This is a hardware flaw that affects several iPhones and iPads. Since this is a hardware vulnerability, Apple cannot patch it with a simple iOS update.
It is currently unclear whether a public jailbreak will see the light of day for iOS 17. After all, we are only in the first beta and the final version will not arrive before September. So we still have time to see how the situation will evolve. One thing is certain in any case: iPhones supporting iOS 17 are not eligible for the Checkm8 flaw. It will therefore be necessary to find software flaws for a potential jailbreak of iOS 17.
For the rest, Sileo 2.5 is a minor update. There are now icons for Dopamine, palera1n and Cookie. There is also the option to opt in to Canister analysis, simply meaning that you can share some anonymous data with the Sileo team to help improve the product in the long term. This is optional.
