We miss these iPhone features
With every new generation of iPhones, Apple introduces some cool new features. This year, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to get a new periscope lens and the screen edges will become a bit thinner with the new iPhone. iOS 17 is launched with the iPhone 15, which means that older iPhones also get useful new features.

Unfortunately, the opposite also happens, because there are plenty of iPhone functions that have since disappeared. We still miss some of them today, so we secretly hope that Apple will bring the functions back to your iPhone after all. We put four together for you.
1. Slide to unlock
In iOS 10, Apple changed the way you unlock your iPhone. Where in iOS 9 you still had to swipe from left to right to go to your home screen, this has been done horizontally since iOS 10. So you have to swipe from bottom to top to unlock your phone. The ‘new’ way works fine, but the old one slide to unlock was just a little more fun.
2. Cover Flow as a feature on your iPhone
If you were one of the first iPhone or iPod users, you may remember the Cover Flow. The feature showed you the covers of all albums in Apple’s music library. You could browse the library and view the original cover art. Very nostalgic, especially with the older music albums.

It was not very practical, because with the function it usually took a while before all covers were loaded on your iPhone. Browsing through the music library was therefore often faltering and slow, which is why Apple chose to go for a new design. With the current technology it should be possible to bring back the old album covers without slowing down the library.
3. Aluminum back
With the current iPhones, Apple chooses to provide all models with a glass back. This applies to both the regular iPhones and the Pro models. Previously this was not the case, the back of the iPhone was previously made of aluminum. The aluminum back had the great advantage that you didn’t get dirty fingerprints on your iPhone, which is the case with glass.
However, the chance is small that Apple will choose to bring back the aluminum back, because wireless charging is then no longer possible. Wireless charging mainly works through a glass back. Now that charging without a cable is becoming more and more common and popular, it is not expected that Apple will remove this function from the iPhone for an aluminum housing.
4. Innovative(er) accessories for your iPhone
And finally: a big loss with iPhones is the lack of accessories. With the iPhone 12, Apple did introduce a case with a small cutout to read the time on your phone. This was also the most innovative accessory that Apple has ever released for an iPhone.

Now Apple’s cases are limited to the standard silicone phone cases. Apple will hopefully release more and more creative accessories for your iPhone in the future. With more advanced cases, more functions may come to your iPhone, so that you can do just that little bit more with your phone.
