Volkswagen and Microsoft are going to do this together
Volkswagen and Microsoft have announced a partnership. And no, you don’t get Windows 10 in your Golf.
Autonomous driving is currently developing rapidly within the car industry. Teslas can already drive quite independently, the cars of the brands BMW, Mercedes and Audi are also not stupid. But to be able to take further steps and to accelerate developments, help from tech giants is more than welcome. Whatever explains this collaboration.
Microsoft will supply cloud technology to Volkswagen for the development of autonomous driving. It is not the first collaboration between the two companies. Volkswagen, for example, works together with Microsoft in the field of connectivity between cars. This new step is therefore a logical collaboration and can be seen as a new development in the partnership.
Volkswagen will link its autonomous driving platform (ADP) to Microsoft’s Azure cloud system. The companies expect that thanks to this collaboration, development can be shortened from months to weeks. There is a lot of work involved in ensuring this technique runs safely. Cars must not only be able to drive themselves, but at the same time also be able to keep an eye on pedestrians, other traffic, traffic signs and traffic lights. And all this in real time at speeds from a few dozen kilometers to over 100 km / h.
