[Communiqué de presse] Sygic and IT4Innovations unveil the Smart City traffic computing platform at the Lisbon ITS Congress
The EVEREST project, funded by the European Horizon 2020 program, should revolutionize municipal traffic control thanks to its cutting-edge AI processing platform. Developed by project partners Sygic and IT4Innovations, the Smart City traffic computing platform will be presented this week at the ITS Congress in Lisbon, giving visitors a glimpse of its immense potential. The platform will be available for urban laboratory testing over the next year.
The main challenges facing municipalities in terms of traffic management are traffic jams caused by the increase in the number of vehicles on the roads, incidents, closures and the maintenance of road infrastructure. The Smart City Traffic Calculation Platform addresses these challenges by collecting and processing traffic data, as well as directing drivers according to the policies of the given city, thereby balancing road loads, reducing emissions and improve the safety of drivers and residents.
As the product owner, Sygic is collaborating with IT4Innovations, provider of the accelerated traffic simulation module, to develop this innovative platform. The platform offers comprehensive traffic views and predictions, obtained through the processing of historical data and real-time traffic, from the floating data of cars and road sensors. Plus, it seamlessly integrates with in-car navigation devices, making it easy to optimally orchestrate traffic for smoother journeys.
Cities with more than one million inhabitants will definitely benefit from this traffic calculation platform, as it exploits the diversity of routing options and easily justifies supercomputing costs. “Each city will now be able to benefit from its own navigation system that optimizes driver journeys based on unique municipal emissions policies and RCI zones. Cities will also be able to make informed decisions through what-if analyzes regarding closures or restrictions affecting roads, bridges or tunnels, as well as when planning the development of new road infrastructure,” explains Radim Cmar, solutions architect at Sygic.
Potential customers are invited to discover the capabilities of the new traffic calculation platform at the ITS Congress in Lisbon. Representatives of Sygic and IT4Innovations will be available for interviews at the booth A11 Lisbon Congress Center from Monday May 22 to Wednesday May 24.
