Quanta increases production of the 15-inch MacBook Air just before the presentation
Quanta Computer, which assembles Apple laptops, ramped up production of the 15-inch MacBook Air weeks ahead of its WWDC 2023 presentation, according to a note from Morgan Stanley bank analyst Erik Woodring seen by MacRumors.
Quanta Computer has forecast high single-digit percentage growth for the number of laptops it assembles in the second quarter of 2023 compared to the first quarter. This is due to Apple’s MacBooks and especially the 15-inch model which is coming soon.
Several leaks have taken place concerning this famous model. All agree that the design will be more than similar, if not identical to the 13-inch model. The only difference will be the larger 15-inch screen. Under the hood, we will find the M2 chip, already present in the 13-inch model. Some were hoping for the M3 chip, but that will be for a little later with other Mac models.
Indeed, the first Macs with the M3 chip wouldn’t arrive until the second half of 2023. Apple would use it in the 13-inch MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini. We should also expect more powerful variants, the M3 Pro and M3 Max, for the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro. But the latter would not arrive before the first half of 2024.
