A euro-expensive puzzle adventure makes Zelda a competitor
With The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo not only delivered what is probably one of the best games of the year, but also brought out a real Switch bestseller – a look at the current charts in the Nintendo eShop also shows this. But already at number 2, a game smiles at us that probably nobody expected: a 5-year-old puzzle game called Old Man’s Journey.
Switch charts: 99-cent game beats Mario Kart and Super Mario Odyssey
A curious little game has managed to make it to the top of the Nintendo eShop charts. If you take a look at Nintendo’s official list, you will see that on the second place behind The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is not Mario Kart 8 or another Nintendo hit, but that’s where the riddle and puzzle game is currently playing Old Man’s Journey comfortable – no joke (Source: Nintendo eShop).
How the game, which is now 5 years old, managed to secure the silver medal in the switch charts against all expectations is a mystery to us – but the current discount campaign may have something to do with it. Because Old Man’s Journey is being sold at a sale in the Nintendo eShop. Instead of 9.99 euros, the game, which lasts almost one and a half hours, costs only 99 cents. The offer is valid until May 18, 2023, and probably shortly after the Old Man’s Journey discount campaign expires, it will fall off the charts again.
Strange Switch hit: What is Old Man’s Journey about?
In Old Man’s Journey, the name says it all. You accompany an elderly gentleman on a journey through a picturesque game world. Your task is to adjust the landscape accordingly so that the old man can continue on his way untroubled.
As you progress through the game, you’ll unlock rustic pensioner’s memories that will take you back to days gone by. Old Man’s Journey is not a particularly challenging game and instead thrives on its emotional narrative and idyllic visuals.
