Discover 4 hidden WhatsApp features you didn’t know about

WhatsApp has no secrets for you. You have been using it for so many years, you keep up to date via Androidworld, among other things… But, are you sure that you really know your way around it so well? We mention four WhatsApp functions that not everyone knows, but are very useful.

1. Send a photo that disappears

Do you want to send a photo that someone doesn’t necessarily have to see more often? Unfortunately, WhatsApp adds a small clock, so that the other person knows that he or she receives a photo that disappears after one look. Good to know: the other person cannot take a screenshot of your photo (unless he or she uses another phone to record his phone screen). You can send a disappearing photo by going to the paper clip in a WhatsApp conversation, then Gallerythen choose the photo you want to send and next to Add caption… there will be a kind of clock with a 1. Tap on it if you only want to make it visible once. This is also possible with videos, in exactly the same way.

2. Email yourself a chat conversation

Whether you are doing a salary negotiation on WhatsApp or just want to read and save the first conversations between you and your sweetheart: did you know that you can have conversations emailed to yourself? You do this by going to the dots at the top right of the app in the relevant conversation. Then you choose More and Export chat. You will then be given the choice whether you want to add media (photos, gifs, etc.) or whether you only want text. You can then email the conversation to yourself via Gmail, or immediately put it in your Drive, or in another program. You can even forward it to someone via WhatsApp.

3. Share your location

You’re wandering around at a festival, looking for your friends who walked in the exact opposite direction when you went to the toilet. Drink in the man huh? Fortunately, there is a life preserver. You can share your location for 15 minutes, an hour or even eight hours. You go to the conversation for this, paper clip, Location and then you can choose Share live location. That way people can see where you are going when you walk around. If people don’t necessarily need to know exactly where you are, but they do need to know that you are in the city, you can also choose one of the options under nearby locations.

4. Record hands-free voice messages

Not everyone knows this lifehack, so we’d like to repeat it again: you don’t have to hold your phone all the time while recording a voice message. You record a voice message by pressing the microphone next to the input bar. When you record a voice message, you swipe up with the finger you’re recording with to put it in some sort of recording mode. You do your story and then you tap the send button if you want to send it, or the trash can if you prefer to throw it away.
