Pixel Fold: a launch in June, and a stratospheric price
The first foldable smartphone from Google is finally ready to take off: according to internal documents viewed by CNBCTHE Pixel Fold will be officially presented during the Google I / O on May 10, the marketing of the mobile being scheduled for the month of June. Still according to these internal documents, the Pixel Fold would have a substantial battery, enough to last 24 hours without worries, or even up to three days in slightly less constant use or in energy saving mode. As a result of this massive battery, the Pixel Fold would be heavier than its direct competitors, including Samsung’s Z Fold 4.
The hinge of the foldable screen, often the weak point of this type of device, would be particularly resistant on the Google model. In addition, the Pixel Fold would inherit the IP68 certification (dust and water resistance). As for the on-board processor, it would logically be necessary to rely on a Tensor G2 chip (i.e. the processor of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro). There remains the question of price: the Pixel Fold would cost well over $1,700, probably even beyond the $1,799 of the Z Fold 4 at launch. At this price level, it remains to be hoped that the novelties are not limited to a foldable screen…
