Kultauto returns as an electric copy

Alongside the VW Beetle and the Fiat 500, the BMW Isetta is probably the most famous smooch in automotive history. Now the tiny is returning to the German metropolises – albeit differently than expected. The Microlino is now fully electric.

Modern classic from Switzerland: The Microlino will be available in 2023

If you simply can’t find a parking space in the big city and are longingly awaiting the arrival of the Microlino, you don’t have to wait much longer. At the beginning of this year, after 35,000 reserved copies, finally delivery in Germany, Spain and Austria will begin. The Swiss have been jetting through the gorges with the electric dwarf since 2021. The small car maker Micro receives support from the international automobile trading group Astara.

There is no exact release date yet. The market launch has been repeatedly postponed, the delivery of the city car should actually start in 2022. A legal battle and a major overhaul of the technique were to blame for the delay (source: ecomento.de).

Inspired by the BMW Isetta: That’s the Microlino

Strictly speaking, the Microlino from the manufacturer Micro is not a car at all – just like the Isetta. As a light electric vehicle (LEM), it belongs to vehicle class L7e. As such, it is unfortunately not possible to use an environmental bonus to den Price of at least 14,990 euros keep pushing.

For this price, you can not only get further fully battery-electric, but also faster than, for example, with the Opel Rocks-e – one of the biggest competitors. With a maximum speed of 90 kilometers per hour and a WLTP range of between 90 and 230 kilometers (depending on the model), the Microlino not only suitable for city traffic. Excursions can also be easily made via country roads. Only on the Autobahn did the Microlino with its 17 hp, which the rear-wheel drive can achieve, probably lose less (source: ADAC).
