E3 2023 is canceled, here’s why
2023 was supposed to be an important year for E3, including a physical show, but the video game event was finally canceled. The absence of Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, Ubisoft and others prompted the organizers to make this decision.
E3 organizers take the floor after cancellation:
This decision was difficult to make due to all the effort we and our partners have put into making this event happen, but we had to do what’s right for the industry and what’s right for E3. We understand that interested companies did not prepare playable demos and that resource issues made attending E3 this summer an obstacle they could not overcome. For those who have committed to attending E3 2023, we’re sorry that we can’t give you the showcase you deserve and expect from ReedPop events.
As said before, big publishers have decided not to participate in the 2023 edition. Naturally, this has an impact since their publishers in question have games that appeal to a lot of players. But their absence made organizers not content with the remaining third-party publishers.
Organizers suggest that E3 is not buried and will take place in the future. But still it is necessary that Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony and the others are still interested. After all, many of them make do with their own events.
