Apple Music Classical is coming
We’ve seen Apple Music Classical and its launch coming for some time: All Primephonic users received the ‘regular’ Apple Music for free for half a year upon the takeover in 2021.
This gift had an end date of March 7. That’s why we expected it to arrive at the Peek Performance event on March 8, 2022. That didn’t happen. WWDC also apparently came too early for this classical music service. But now a year later it’s finally here!
Apple Music Classical is secretly Primephonic
Apple announced at the end of August in 2021 that it had acquired Primephonic. This Dutch-American company created and managed a streaming service that specialized in classical music. This app was taken offline immediately after the acquisition.
Separate app next to Apple Music
Everyone with Apple Music gets Apple Music Classical. From 28 March you can then enjoy more than 5 million classical songs and works. You then have the option to search by composer, work, conductor or catalog number. The tracks can be heard in the highest sound quality (up to 192 kHz/24-bit Hi-Res Lossless) with thousands of recordings in immersive spatial audio.
This is the price of music service Apple Classical
Fortunately, you don’t pay any extra for Apple Classical. You only need a subscription to Apple Music itself. You get that every month 10.99 euros . If you are in a family, you can purchase a combi subscription (15.99 euros). If you are a student, you only pay 5.99 euros. When you purchase some music-related Apple products, you get 6 months of free Apple Music.
