Studio Display: Apple offers beta 2 of firmware 16.4
Apple is releasing Beta 2 (build 20E5223e) of firmware 16.4 for the Studio Display today. The first was released on February 18. That of the day arrives the same week as the second beta of iOS 16.4 on iPhone and iPad, macOS 13.3 on Mac, watchOS 9.4 on Apple Watch and tvOS 16.4 on Apple TV.
Like last time, Apple is not releasing any specific information regarding the changes to be found with the new firmware beta for the Studio Display. However, testers did not notice any specific changes, suggesting that these are various fixes.
Installing firmware 16.4 for the Studio Display requires a Mac with macOS 13.3 beta. If so, you can open System Settings, go to the General tab and then Software Update. The new version will appear. You can then start the download and proceed with the installation. This takes about 10 minutes. Also, this is the first 16.x firmware. The previous one was version 15.5.
For your information, this is the third software update for Apple’s 5K monitor. The former mostly fixed issues with the webcam and speakers. Many criticisms had emerged concerning these elements.
The Studio Display starts at €1,999 at Apple, but Amazon offers it from €1,769.
