iPhone 15 gets USB-C, but you still have to buy a new cable
At the beginning of February 2023, a rumor surfaced that Apple will limit full support for the iPhone’s USB-C connection to a certified cable. Now another yummy confirms this rumor.

Advantages of iPhone 15 with USB-C cable
It is almost certain that this year’s iPhone 15 (Plus) and iPhone 15 Pro (Max) will have a USB-C connection. Great, isn’t it, then that Lightning cable can go into the drawer and you only have one kind of cable left for all your technical devices to charge. But did you really think it would be that easy at Apple? No, because you do need an officially approved iPhone 15 USB-C cable from Apple for full support.
If we get the information from leaker ShrimpApplePro According to Twitter, Apple will require MFi certification (Made for iPhone) for accessories and chargers that you connect to the iPhone 15. Official headphones and cables from Apple are even already in production at Foxconn.
Third party accessories with MFi
Third-party accessories are usually cheaper than the original Apple accessories, so you save a few bucks. On the other hand, accessories from third parties will soon have to be certified first. Accessory manufacturers must pay a fee to Apple to access the certified parts. The MFi program ensures that cables, headphones, etc. are fully compliant with Apple’s terms.
Non-certified accessories such as headphones may not work without that approval. But what about charging cables? This involves limited data and charging speeds for cables that are connected to the iPhone without MFi certification. While this may seem anti-consumer on the surface, there are good reasons why Apple is acting this way.

Why an MFi program for usb-c?
