IKEA presents a small, square air monitor called Vindstyrka
IKEA introduces a new air monitor to check the quality of the air in your home. It announced during CES in Las Vegas that Vindstyrka is coming. This allows you to measure the quality of the air, so you can ensure that you breathe a little healthier air. If you just use some deodorant or fry an egg without turning on the extractor hood, you will notice that Vindstyrka hits the red mark. Unhealthy air. Time to open a window and let in some fresh air. In your house, but also in your lungs.

The air quality sensor (via iCulture) also works with an app, so you can see its findings in IKEA’s smart home app. Even if you don’t have a phone nearby, you have insight. That’s because this device has a screen that indicates how much particulate matter is in the air, what the room temperature is and what the air quality is like. You have to take action yourself: VIndstyrka cannot change the air quality, it can only establish that the air you breathe can be improved. So you have to take measures yourself to improve it, such as investing in an air purifier.

It is not IKEA’s first air quality monitor: an air quality sensor called Vindriktning has been around for some time. It is not that expensive: you can buy it for 14.99 euros from the Swedish furniture giant. Vindstyrka will probably become a considerably more expensive device because it is smart. Looking at the competition, you will soon lose 40 to 100 euros. You must also have the new IKEA Dirigera smart home hub: Tradfri is now too outdated.
