JD.com kicks off Chinese New Year early with huge iPhone 14 deals
JD.com will therefore not wait until January 23 to start the Chinese New Year promotions. The Chinese eCommerce giant has just started a huge promotional campaign on the iPhone 14: the basic model is thus offered with a nice reduction of 900 yuan (i.e. 129 dollars less than the original price), and 1000 yuan off (-143 dollars) on the iPhone 14 Plus model. Promotions on iPhones in China are generally stronger than in other countries, which seems to demonstrate that Apple is ready to make big concessions in this territory to maintain its place in the top 5. In fact, this strategy seems work wonderfully since Apple is the only Western manufacturer to enter the top 10 of the biggest sellers of smartphones in China. It even happened that over a month or even Apple was the number one manufacturer in the country.
The big promotion of JD.com on the iPhone 14/14 plus will surprise all the less as these models are still worth it. The very high price of these models (which are no longer entry-level) and the little improved characteristics compared to the iPhone 13 undoubtedly explain the disenchantment of buyers. Note that JD.com also applies promotions (less advantageous of course) on other Apple products than the iPhone (MacBook Pro, iPad, AirPod, Apple Watch, etc.).
