Drew Barrymore never gives her daughters toys for Christmas
A Christmas tree with piles of presents underneath? You won’t see that easily at Drew Barrymore’s house. The actress and presenter does not give her daughters toys or other gifts for Christmas. And she has good reason for that.
“I take them on a trip every Christmas,” she says in the American program Entertainment Tonight. “They don’t get presents, which is something they don’t like at their age, but I always say, ‘We’ll remember the place, the photos, and the experience, and I want to give that to you.'”

Advantages
It’s not like Drew’s daughters Frankie (8) and Olive (10) never get presents. “During the year they get enough, so I’m not some strange, stern and cold mother who says: ‘You don’t get any presents!’ I just think giving a memory is a better gift. I’d rather invest in that than in a dollhouse or something. It will eventually straighten out.” And another benefit of a gift-less Christmas: “They never complain because they got something they don’t like.”
