Nokia and Android 13
HMD Global, the company behind the Nokia smartphones, has been using a clean Android shell without bloatware for years that comes very close to ‘pure’ Android. In fact, many Nokia smartphones run on Android One. A special program from Google itself. Devices in this program run on almost stock Android and manufacturers are only allowed to add a few minor adjustments and/or apps. Android One guaranteed fast updating and upgrades for a long time, unfortunately this is no longer the case. You can read more about this in this article.

Nokia has confirmed that the X20 and X30 5G have been assigned to the Android Developer Preview program. We therefore assume that these devices will soon receive the Android 13 update. Developers can already test their apps on the phones through the program.
Nokia’s update policy also differs per device and per price range of the relevant telephone. Nokia’s line-up consists of three lines: The C, G, and X line. The C line is the cheapest line and we find smartphones up to about 200 euros. Many devices from this series run on Android Go. C-line phones get two Android upgrades and two years of security updates.
The G-line consists of smartphones that run to about 300 to 350 euros. These devices will receive two Android upgrades and three years of security updates. Finally, we have the X line, which contains smartphones from 400 to 550 euros. X-line phones get three Android upgrades and three years of security updates. In addition, you get a three-year warranty on the X-line, one year longer than the standard.

Slow with errors
The phones from the list above should officially get Android 13. However, it is not certain when this will happen. For example, the Nokia 7.2 only received the update to Android 11 last February, more than a year and a half after the release of this Android version. In addition, the updates do not always go smoothly. You can find more about this in the articles below.
