Google Play system update comes with photo chooser for more phones

Android 13 came with a photo picker (the photo picker), which allows you to give apps access to your gallery so that you can easily extract a photo from it. This photo picker gives you a new way to share photos securely. Now it’s part of the Google Play services, making it no longer just for Android 13 phones. In fact, it’s now for phones on Android 4.4 KitKat and above.

Google Voice is one of the first apps to use that Photo Browser (or actually Media Browser). In a server update, it is noticeable that there is a new way to add photos. It uses your phone’s camera interface instead of a homemade solution. It may happen that you don’t have it in Google Voice yet: it will probably come later.

There are more innovations in the Google Play system update, namely adjustments for when you want to adjust the clock of your device within an account that is subject to guidance. Consider, for example, accounts of children. They can’t adjust the clock, but you can now also create a supervised account without time restrictions that can adjust the clock, Google says.

The Wallet app also has several innovations. For example, there is an API update for developers that allows them to add deep links to Google Wallet screens. It is also possible to create your own GPay button for people who want to sell something with their app. Finally, there are also innovations to the Google Play Store, namely new possibilities to find the apps and games that suit you, optimizations that make downloading and installing faster, improvements to Play Protect for security and the standard bug fixes.

Many of these innovations are coming to your Android device one of these days or weeks. These are not earth-shattering adjustments, but especially if you have an account with guidance, that clock story can make a big difference.
