According to Netflix, users will not be charged if they use their account abroad, or if it is used at a different address for a longer period of time. The company wants to curtail account sharing, and will charge a fee when another household uses the account owner’s account. Netflix will check whether this is the case by means of verification codes. These codes are ‘sometimes’ requested and are received by e-mail or SMS. These must then be entered within 15 minutes.

The new measures will come into effect from 2023, Netflix has previously announced.
