shared accounts are verified with verification code
There is a lot to do; Netflix’s new plans to charge those who share an account with others. Now more about it becomes clear; the streaming service will work with verification codes.
Netflix: Shared Account Verification Codes
There have been reports for some time that streaming service Netflix wants to limit the sharing of accounts. It was finalized last week. Those who are ‘guilty’ of this would be charged by Netflix. Last week, the Consumers’ Association announced that it was strongly against this and Netflix is now responding to this. According to Netflix, users will not be charged if they use their account abroad, or if it is used at a different address for a longer period of time. However, other measures will be taken, the service reports.
The company wants to curtail account sharing, and will charge a fee when another household uses the account owner’s account. Netflix will check whether this is the case by means of verification codes. These codes are ‘sometimes’ requested and are received by e-mail or SMS. These must then be entered within 15 minutes.
The new measures will come into effect from 2023, Netflix has previously announced.
