“In the evening all strangers showed up at the door”

Oh, those sleepovers: snuggling up in the pajamas, reading to them and chatting before going to sleep. In reality, things are often just a little different.

Eva (39), mother of Sophie (17), Lieke (15), Morris (9) and Emma (1):

“It’s been eight years already, that sleepover of our oldest, but my husband Daniel can still get angry about it. Sophie had a friend to eat and sleep and they were playing sweetly. At least that’s what we thought.

To retrieve

In the evening a man showed up at the door: a package was said to have been delivered to us for him. We didn’t know anything, probably a misunderstanding. Not much later someone rang the doorbell and half an hour later again and then again. All the same story: they had to pick up something here.

“Daniel feared something was going to happen”

Daniel was shocked. He works for a pharmaceutical company and sometimes certain activists manage to find out his address. Our car has already been defaced. Daniel feared that something was going to happen in the evening. He informed the police and kept watch on the bank that night. Fortunately it remained calm.

fun packages

In the morning at the breakfast table we heard why. While giggling, Sophie confessed that they had done such a nice thing after all. They’d made slimy dioramas and haphazardly called people from friend Anna’s hockey club phone tree saying a package had been delivered for them here. The intention was that they would receive such a box from them. Only by the time those people came by, they were playing outside, so all the fun packs were still unopened in her room.

“It took a long time before someone was allowed to come and stay again”

Daniel almost freaked out. After a night without sleep, he was beyond reason. I really had to stop him from sending the guest house straight away, still in his pajamas. It took a long time before someone was allowed to come and stay again.”
