Tesla Model S: Battery starts to rust

Tesla owner Mario Zelaya bought his electric car back in 2013. Over time, he repeatedly encountered problems in his long-term test. Now he accuses the manufacturer that it is the case with older Model S serious design flaws came. The battery in his “scrap heap” has now also started to rust.

Zelaya has already found the reason for this. His Tesla is designed in such a way that the air conditioning system removes the condensation through a hose to the battery. Water was able to accumulate in the battery over time after the battery cover rusted through. The defect was also confirmed to him by the Canadian Ministry of Transport. He also received support for his claim from workshop owner Jason Hughes, known as the “Tesla hacker”. It would not be an isolated case.

The frustrated Tesla owner would rather do without an expensive repair. According to a Tesla estimate, a replacement battery would convert something more than 21,000 euros costs. His request for a free replacement battery was initially approved, but he says it was later revoked.

Since the rusting battery could no longer be charged, the owner was temporarily unable to get into the vehicle. The doors stayed lockedthe electricity is gone (source: Mario Zelaya on TikTok). But the problem is now solved.

Tesla makes more than just electric cars:
