Farm Manager 2018 was no miracle, but the idea of an agricultural building strategy, a more broad look at Farming Simulator, sounds great. So it’s no wonder that the almost three-year-old title will be followed this year by its successor, Farm Manager 2021, which seems to be a better, more sophisticated game in all respects.
Farm Manager 2021 will make you the owner of a large piece of land on which you will build your farming empire over time. As part of your career, you will first have to renovate old farmsteads before you get to hire farmers, buy your first cows, goats and sheep, and produce your first products.
You have to provide the animals with a varied diet, you can use the manure they produce to improve the quality of crops grown in the fields, and it is up to you whether you sell your own fresh milk immediately or build a factory to make many types of cheese.
But at first, there is no waste of money, so a tomato greenhouse may make more sense than a field. Farmers can work in the field, but without expensive tractors, harvesters and other agricultural equipment, common tasks such as plowing, cultivating, sowing and harvesting will take you a disproportionate amount of time.
There will also be talk of changing seasons, extinguishing fires, creating infrastructure, securing the supply of energy, transporting goods and, in addition to careers and free play, also predefined scenarios.
Farm Manager 2021 will be released on computers in just a few months, but you can already try a very short prologue on Steam, which won’t tell you much about the full game. However, it will show you that this building strategy has great potential.
