The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro has just come out and now it’s causing a really unexpected problem. The smartwatch itself is not responsible for this, but the brand new bracelet.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro: Bracelet causes problems

While the normal Galaxy Watch 5 is equipped with a classic bracelet with a normal clasp, Samsung has come up with a special bracelet for the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. It can be adjusted very precisely and is fixed with magnets. But that is exactly what is now becoming a problem for some laptop users. The bracelet with magnets is recognized by the laptop and goes into sleep mode as if the display had been closed. This is impressively demonstrated in the following video:

Some manufacturers use magnets in the case to determine if the screen has been closed on a laptop. In this case, it is a Lenovo laptop that reacts to the magnets of the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro – or rather its bracelet. Accordingly, the device goes to sleep because it thinks that the screen has been closed.

How to solve the problem?

If you have a laptop that also has this problem, only a new bracelet for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will help. The magnets in the bracelet will otherwise permanently disrupt your everyday work with the laptop. Alternatively, you can set Windows so that nothing happens when you close the screen. But then you have to be careful that you manually put the laptop into sleep mode when you transport it. Either way you have to change somethingif you have the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and a corresponding laptop.

I haven’t noticed this issue with any laptop before. But the watch with the magnetic bracelet fell off my wrist almost twice. Wasn’t a problem because I still had my phone in my hand and the watch didn’t fall off. However, during the test period, I pay more attention to it, since the magnetic bracelet is a bit more sensitive than a classic solution.
