Even with a 43% increase, Amazon beats the competition!
In France, in the world of streaming, there are two platforms that overshadow many others. Netflix has exceeded 10 million subscribers in France and Disney + is producing content Star Wars and Marvel in spades to stay on top of the news. Meanwhile, the service AmazonPrime was rather discreet whereas, according to a study by the consultancy firm NPA, one in four French households would have a subscription from Mr. Bezos. In recent days, we have talked a lot about him in France because its price will soon increase. Why cry foul? We decrypt.

The right price ?
Amazon announced a few days ago that its Prime subscription was going increase by 43% ! A huge number that will increase from €49 to €69.99 for one year from September 15. The company justified all this on the pretext of rising fuel and packaging prices in France. So, let’s face it, no one likes to pay more, but – without wanting to defend American society at all costs on the merits of its operation – when we relate the price to the advantages of the service, we realize that this expense is even more than affordable. Already, you benefit from free delivery in one or two days flat.

You also have access to Prime Video which offers very good series (The Boys, The Expanse, Reacher, picard…) and a selection of more than watchable films with great show exclusives (The Tomorrow War, Without any remorse…). The platform has also invested a lot of money to expand its offer, which will allow us to discover the series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power in a few weeks. Finally, more unknown, Prime allows you to listen to music with Amazon Music. That is more than 2 million titles, as well as podcasts. All of this available offline. As if that weren’t enough, you also have access to hundreds of ebooks with Prime Reading and video games with Prime Gaming. Compared to competitors, there is therefore nothing to be ashamed of.
Amazon Prime: the ugly duckling?
Stamped “Amazon”, those who hate the company would have quickly put the service up… yet praising the competitors. You should already know that this increase – certainly spectacular in proportion – is the very first in France since the launch in 2008. Also, if you compare it to the other big streaming services, Prime is always the cheapest despite the increase to come in September.

Netflix’s most basic annual subscription is at 107 € and can go up to 215 €. As for Disney+, you have to count €89.90 for a year with Mickey. Only AppleTV+ is cheaper at €59.88/year but the program offer is starving. Even at €69.99, we cannot therefore speak of a hold-up. But that doesn’t mean you can’t turn your back on it.
How to unsubscribe?
If you do indeed want to unsubscribe from Amazon Prime, nothing could be simpler.
Hover your mouse at the top right over “Account and list”. A menu appears and you can then click on “Your Amazon Prime account”.
There, on the far left, go to the “Manage subscription” box and click on “Update, cancel and more”.
A new menu will appear where you can click on “End Subscription and Benefits.”
There, Amazon will try one last time to hold you back, but you can get closer to release by clicking “Continue to Cancel” at the bottom.
You will then access the last step and will only have to click on the end date of your subscription.
