Hyundai presents Tesla killer: The Ioniq 6 can do that
Hyundai has introduced a new electric car with the Ioniq 6. In the meantime, technical details have also been made public after the South Koreans initially only gave a look into their electric car. This means that potential customers can finally find out if the Ioniq 6 is the right choice for more than two weeks after the first impressions.
This is primarily due to the range: Up to 610 km should create the streamlined electric sedan with a full battery charge. This is not only more than suitable for everyday use, but even comes dangerously close to Tesla’s flagship Model S. With this value, Hyundai is blossoming into a real alternative and strong competition for the market leader Tesla on the one hand and the other Tesla hunters such as VW.
Hyundai offers the Ioniq 6 in several versions: The version designed for maximum range comes with a 77.4 kWh battery. Customers can choose between one or two electric motors for more power. There will also be a standard version with a 53 kWh battery. It should be designed especially for efficiency. The provisional Consumption is less than 14 kWh per 100 km, like Hyundai.
Lots of freedom of choice: The Ioniq 6 is several electric cars in one
Hyundai is also on extensive personalization: For example, accelerator pedal resistance, engine performance and steering force can be personally adjusted. In the interior, LEDs ensure a changeable mood: customers should be able to choose from 64 color nuances. In contrast, the selection of paint finishes with 11 colors seems almost small. Hyundai has also provided various infotainment functions.
With the sedan, Hyundai is launching the second vehicle of its electric sub-brand Ioniq. The crossover Ioniq 5, which is on the same platform, will not be replaced, but the range will be expanded. Hyundai has not yet revealed a launch date for the Ioniq 6, the first cars are to be delivered in 2022. Customers can already submit a “non-binding request for quotation”.
It is still unclear at what price the Ioniq 6 will ultimately be offered. But he should in the upper middle class and above the Ioniq 5 land.
