new traffic widget now available to everyone

Google Maps is a very useful application, the app is now made even better thanks to a new widget. From now on everyone can use the traffic widget that gives you direct insight into the traffic on the road in your area.

Thanks to a new server-side update to Google Maps, you can now place a new widget on your home screen. It’s the traffic widget we heard about before. Google announced a few weeks ago that a new widget was coming, but now it is actually available on Android. Despite the long history of Google Maps, it is only the second real widget from Maps. A ‘Nearby widget’ was already added earlier.

The new traffic widget from Google Maps shows you the traffic on the road, in your current environment. For this, it immediately shows your environment. You can zoom in and out by pressing the zoom button. So you don’t have to pinch your fingers for pinch-to-zoom, because this doesn’t work. It’s zoom in one turn and zoom out one turn. You can add the widget in the usual way. To do this, press and hold the home screen for a while, tap add a widget, search for Maps and voilà.
