MacBook Pro M2: delays until August (same fate for the MacBook Air?)
There are always difficulties in the production lines for the MacBook Pro and this is confirmed with the model marketed today by Apple with the M2 chip.
The base model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage will ship on June 24, which is the release date. On the other hand, switching to 512 GB, 1 or 2 TB of storage shifts the delivery to July 1 at the earliest. Same scenario by choosing 16 GB of RAM. It’s worse for people who want the model with 24 GB of RAM: the delivery will not take place before August 1 at the earliest. A trick to save time is to go through the resellers:
This naturally raises questions about the MacBook Air M2 announced by Apple during the WWDC 2022 opening keynote. The laptop will arrive in July, but Apple does not yet give a date for pre-orders or an exact release date. .
Added to this is the fact that the 13-inch MacBook Pro keeps the old design and is less popular than the MacBook Air. If there are already difficulties today for the MacBook Pro M2, then what will it be for the MacBook Air M2 which will have a new design (which implies changes on the production) and a demand more important? Answer in a few weeks.
