Toilet paper and diapers even more expensive
In the near future, the price of toilet paper, tissues and diapers could rise sharply. Paper prices are skyrocketing and that also affects your weekly shopping.
You are probably already scared at the checkout, but it can get even crazier. Products such as toilet paper and diapers are made from wood pulp. Wood pulp prices are rising terribly, partly due to the war in Ukraine, which means even higher prices.
One of the largest producers of that wood pulp, Suzano from Brazil, has already warned about scarcity. Europe used to import a lot of Russian wood to make its own wood pulp, but that has largely stopped since the start of the war with Ukraine.
Russia itself has also tried with production. They don’t get enough raw materials to make paper. This creates global scarcity and prices rise.
