Destiny 2 sets new player record
Destiny 2 has established itself as a fixture in the shooter and MMO segment. On average, the game recorded around 74,000 active users per day on Steam. That’s not enough for the in-house top 10, but it’s still remarkable.
With the latest expansion, Lightfall, available since February 28th, the popular shooter reaches unimagined heights. In the last 24 hours, more than 316,000 users have joined the fight against the latest threat (source: Steam Charts).
This number not only speaks for a gigantic interest in Destiny 2, but also pulverizes the original record of almost 293,000 active players that the game reached at the end of 2019 with the Shadowkeep expansion (“Fortress of Shadows”).
Only every second player likes Destiny 2: Lightfall
However, a look at the user reviews reveals that many players are not really satisfied with the new expansion. This is how Lightfall keeps up to date a mixed user score of around 50 percent. Why is that?
The majority criticized the story of the expansion and describes them as boring, irrelevant, and average at best. Especially in direct comparison to The Witch Queen, the sixth expansion of Destiny 2, Lightfall a solid downgrade be.
The new city of Neomuna will also be mentioned negatively several times.
Pretty bitter considering the high price of the expansion. After all, developer Bungie demands 49.99 euros for Lightfall. If you buy the annual pass at the same time, you even have to shell out almost 100 euros for the new content.
Of course there will be a lot more to do with the game in the coming weeks and months, but at least the story remains unchanged. However, if you are only looking for loot with friends, you can probably ignore this point of criticism.
