Zandvoort
Enjoy lounging with a tapas picnic, pick up a portion of kibbeling or a pizza from the wood oven of this child-friendly beach pavilion: Zandvoort has something for everyone. The beach is nine kilometers long and in addition to sunbathing and swimming, you can also learn to surf, kite or paddle board when the surf schools are open.
Schiermonnikoog
The North Sea beach of Schiermonnikoog is one of the widest in Europe. In addition to a beautiful stretched sandy beach, you will also find many small dunes in this area that are covered with various plants. So buy a wagon, stuff it with goodies (and don’t forget the children) and enjoy a nice walk.
Bergen aan Zee
Sunbathing, swimming, (kite) surfing or just taking a walk on the beach: you are always in the right place in the pleasant Bergen aan Zee. The sandy beach is three kilometers long and nice and clean.
Ameland
With a coastline of 27 kilometers you will always find a nice spot here. For example, at the beach in Hollum, one of the four villages on Ameland, from where you have a beautiful view of Terschelling. Don’t forget to take in the beautiful sunset here.
Wassenaar
Ideal for a nice walk, bike ride or round with the dog. Because in addition to the eight-kilometer-long beach, you will also find a rugged dune area where you and your family can relax.

Flushing
Combine city and beach with a good number of hours of sunshine and you get the beaches at Vlissingen. Tip: the sleeping beach houses on the Nollestrand. Well worth it.
Zoutelande, Zeeland
Now known by the number of BLØF, but did you know that this beach on Walcheren is very suitable for families with children? It has the blue flag, which means that it is clean and hygienic. Extra advantage: Zeeland always scores high when it comes to the number of hours of sunshine and you can take many nice walks with children.
Wadden coast World Heritage
No typical sandy beaches, beach bars and hordes of people here, but peace and nature. The Wadden Sea is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a unique nature reserve. Put on your wellies, go mudflat walking, spot many different birds and seals or walk with a professional guide.
Kijkduin, The Hague
Beautiful, quiet dune area with kilometers of beaches and shell cycle paths through the dunes. And while you’re there during the beach season, visit De Staat: a much-praised beach pavilion hidden behind the dunes.
Cadzand
The most southern seaside resort in the Netherlands with a sandy beach of eleven kilometers and surrounded by dunes. This part of the Zeeland coast is known for its mudflats, salt marshes and old polders. Especially popular with children, as you can find many shark teeth on the beach.
Texel
With over 30 kilometers of sand, Texel has plenty of beautiful beaches to keep you entertained. If you are looking for complete peace and quiet, it is best to go to the most southern tip of the island. Up to pole 9, nature predominates.
Vlieland
Another gem: the beaches on Vlieland are extensive, clean and above all quiet. You will only find one beach pavilion, so bring some treats in a cool box or picnic basket. The Vliehors Express is fun for children. With this bus you drive along the beach, spot seals and visit the rescue house. Read here what else there is to do on Vlieland.
Terschelling
This Wadden Island has about 30 kilometers of sandy beach where you will always find a place for yourself. There are several beach crossings from the dunes and you have some of the most beautiful and quiet beaches in the whole of the Netherlands within easy reach. Midsland aan Zee has a beautiful wide beach, a cozy beach pavilion and (although a bicycle is a better means of transport) good parking facilities. The beach at Formerum is also recommended, with Zandzeebar, a nice beach pavilion.
Egmond aan Zee
The beach of Egmond aan Zee is nice and wide and there is always a free table in one of the many beach bars. Thanks to the clean beaches and the presence of a rescue team and a first aid post, it is also a popular place among families with children. The literal highlight of your visit to Egmond aan Zee is a visit to the historic lighthouse, where a guided tour is given on Friday evenings in summer.
Noordwijk
Ten minutes outside the center you will find the beach of Langevelderslag. Because of its location, surrounded by the dunes, the atmosphere is very different from the busy beaches near the boulevards. At low tide there is a large inland sea, so this is an ideal place especially for small children.
