Zombies to Call of Duty: Warzone Season 2?
Gamers will encounter multiple references to zombies in CoD: Warzone. The popular mode may therefore come to the free battle royale.
Call of Duty: Warzone may have zombies with the release of Season 2. Multiple gamers will find references to the popular Black Ops series sub-franchise in Verdansk and on Rebirth Island. It wouldn’t be the first time Activision and Treyarch have brought zombies to battle royale.
Zombies in Warzone?
Players will come across some hints in Warzone that may refer to the arrival of zombies, according to PCGamer. For example, the Twitter user below spots a zombies trial machine in Warzone. The button prompt also refers to an apparently incomplete function called ‘activiate_zombies’.
Also some players get to see / hear crazy disturbances in a specific room on Rebirth Island. They hear a Russian man over the radio asking for a cargo from a specific ship. That ship, called Vodyanoy, turns out to be transporting the gas Nova 6 to Verdansk, players discover. That gas is produced again on Rebirth Island and, yes, was introduced in the first Black Ops Zombies mode.
It is not clear whether the teasers are deliberate or whether we are diving too deep into the Call of Duty storylines. The ‘activate_zombies’ button does seem to be an error in any case.
However, it wouldn’t be the first time that zombies have come to a Call of Duty battle royale. The first iteration of the mode, Blackout (Black Ops 4), also had regions with zombies.
Although Warzone is usually a bit more grounded than Black Ops, the integration of Black Ops Cold War in Warzone can still justify zombies. We reportedly know more at the end of this month, because Warzone Black Ops Cold War season 2 may be released.
