YouTube is testing the creation of snippets from videos, like Twitch
YouTube has launched a new test to create clips of videos that are between 5 and 60 seconds long. The functionality is similar to what Twitch offers. Moreover, YouTube says it is launching this experimental feature with videos related to video games for the moment.
On on his site, YouTube ensures that “Many creators and spectators” asked to be able to create video clips, hence the arrival of the feature. The test is available from a computer and on Android devices. Support for iOS devices will be coming soon.
How to create YouTube video clips? You just have to choose your video and click on the new button “Extract”. A new interface appears and allows you to choose the portion of your video. Once the choice is made, you must give a title and click on “Share the extract”. YouTube provides a link that can be shared with anyone. The person who clicks on it will see the clip and can, if they wish, click on a button to see the entire video.
As said before, this is a test for now. Only a few YouTube channels have access to this feature. The video service is waiting to have enough user and creator reviews to make improvements. When all is well, then the system will be available to all users and creators.
