Xiaomi wants to know if you could buy her a € 1,500 smartphone

Xiaomi takes the temperature with its fans. The Chinese brand wonders if buyers could fall for a smartphone at 1,500 euros designed by it. This speech could foreshadow the arrival of the first smartphone with foldable screen from Xiaomi.

In a post posted on Sina Weibo, the Chinese social network, Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, questioned the community of fans of the brand, reports Android Authority. “If Xiaomi launched a high-end smartphone at 10,000 yuan (Editor’s note: over $ 1,500), would you buy it?” Lei Jun asks.

“If we design a high-end smartphone that is priced over 10,000 yuan, what should it look like” continues the leader, before asking Internet users to post their recommendations in the comments. Finally, the framework specifies that the subject of an ultra premium Xiaomi phone will be discussed during a dinner, broadcast live in a shopping center, February 7, 2021.

Xiaomi will soon launch its first foldable smartphone?

This is not the first time Lei Jun has announced Xiaomi’s turn to the top of the range. At the end of 2019, the CEO already explained: “we want to get rid of this reputation that our phones cost less than 2,000 yuan (Editor’s note: 257 euros) ”. In the years to come, “Our phones could get more expensive – not much, but a little more expensive” Lei Jun warned. Xiaomi has already increased the prices of its most premium devices. For example, the Mi 10 Pro was released in France at a price of € 999, not far from the premium smartphones sold by the competition.

Everything suggests that Xiaomi prepares the ground for the launch of its very first smartphone with foldable display. Teased several times in recent years, the terminal could land on the market in spring 2021, believes a famous informant. In the past, Xiaomi has however committed to sell its foldable smartphone at a price below the 1000 euros mark. Has the builder finally changed his mind? We await your opinion in the comments.
