Xiaomi removed from blacklist in United States
The United States has removed Xiaomi from the blacklist, where it has been up since January. The consequences were less severe than with another Chinese manufacturer; Huawei.
Xiaomi removed from blacklist
The US Department of Defense (DoD) blacklisted Xiaomi in January. It was a different blacklist than on which Huawei appeared. In the case of Xiaomi, it was the military blacklist. As a result, American investors were no longer allowed to invest in the Chinese manufacturer. Those with shares in Xiaomi had to sell it before November 2021. Nothing changed for the consumer.
Reaction
Xiaomi has commented that the spot on the blacklist has now been undone.
This morning it was officially announced at the tech company Xiaomi that it has officially been removed from the American Blacklist. The listing of Xiaomi as a Chinese communist military company had taken place under the leadership of former US President Trump. The US court announced last night on May 25 at 4.10 am that the Xiaomi group is officially no longer on the blacklist of the US government. The US General Court in the District of Columbia has revoked the official listing of Xiaomi by the US Department of Defense on the NDAA list of Chinese communist military companies (CMCC), and Xiaomi has officially no longer been blacklisted. The court has ruled that global technology company Xiaomi has been wrongly included by the US Department of Defense on the NDAA list of Chinese communist military companies (CMCC).
With this, Xiaomi wins the lawsuit for good and the trade restrictions for Xiaomi’s sake are immediately invalidated. This means that investors with the American nationality are allowed to keep their shares / holdings in Xiaomi and that investments in the technology company can also be made from America again.
