Nowadays charging can be done much faster than a few years ago, but steps are also being taken in the field of wireless charging. Xiaomi comes with Mi Air Charge where you can charge wirelessly, without your smartphone having to lie on a plate.

Xiaomi comes with a very special wireless charger. This one has the name ‘Mi Air Charge’. This is a very interesting concept because your phone no longer has to be on ‘a plate’ to charge. As long as the device is within a few meters of the charging station, it can be charged at a speed of 5 watts. Xiaomi talks about ‘remote charging’. This allows the device to charge wirelessly while calling.

Xiaomi says that the technology will become available for smartwatches and other wearables in the foreseeable future. The charging station has five-axis interference antennas that can detect the precise location of the smartphone. A phase control array, consisting of 144 antennas, transmits millimeter-wide waves to the phone via beamforming, Xiaomi claims. The phone itself must also support ‘remote charging’.

At the moment, further information on pricing and release dates is missing.
