Xiaomi assures us: the 120W charge damages the battery as much as that of an iPhone

On the night of September 15-16, the Mi 11T and Mi 11T Pro will be presented at a conference. For the occasion, the two smartphones will benefit from a fast charging technology of 120W. This innovation was unveiled by Xiaomi at the start of the year, with another 200W load. One of the main questions surrounding this new technology is the health of this battery in the long term. In fact, the closer and more intense the charge cycles, the more the accumulator is damaged over time. A few days before this formalization, the manufacturer seek to reassure on the sustainability of this technology.

In the tweet shared above, the manufacturer announces that with HyperCharge technology several security elements are in place. After 800 charge cycles, the battery retains 80% of its efficiency. This means concretely that after two theoretical years of use, the charge will not have affected the autonomy too much. During an interview given to our colleagues at The Verge, one of the managers of Xiaomi said that 34 security systems are added to the battery. Regarding the 200W load, the technology is still proven in the brand’s laboratories.
