Xbox Game Pass: the service will not arrive on consoles other than the Xbox

We know it, Phil spencer is a Game Pass proselyte and wants the subscription service to be found on as many hardware media as possible (PC, Xbox, televisions, smartphones, etc.). The strong man of Xbox had even declared himself in favor of porting GamePass to PlayStation or Nintendo consoles!

Unfortunately for Philou, the two Japanese giants refused the many advances from the Redmond firm. In an interview with GamesRadar, Phil Spencer seems to give up the game … for now: “We do not plan to offer it (the Xbox Game Pass, Editor’s note) on other closed platforms for now, largely because those closed ecosystems don’t want to host something like Game Pass. There are tons of open platforms we can grow on: the web, PCs and mobile devices. So, to be frank, all of our efforts will be focused on these platforms ”.

If Spencer accepts the refusal of his competitors (who have not followed the same service-oriented strategy as Microsoft / Xbox at all), the boss of Xbox is not closing the door. In other words, if Sony and Nintendo change their minds about Xbox Game Pass with their future consoles, Xbox won’t oppose a deal.
