Xbox Game Pass: Microsoft is ending the subscription for family and friends
This is the end for Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family. Microsoft has decided to put an end to this subscription which made it possible to share the Xbox Game Pass with members of his family, as well as friends.
An Xbox Game Pass offer is ending
On his websiteMicrosoft says:
On August 15, 2023, the Xbox Game Pass Friends and Family preview program will end as we review what we’ve learned over the past few months and explore how to create an offer we can launch globally. .
The offer has been tested for a year in a few countries. It will therefore stop in Ireland, Colombia, New Zealand, Sweden, Israel, Chile, Hungary and South Africa. Will the subscription, which cost €21.99/month, come back later? Microsoft is not completely closing the door. But we can suspect that the group wants to push players to turn to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which now costs €14.99/month (compared to €12.99/month previously).
Here’s how Microsoft presented the Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family:
- The people you share your subscription with must reside in the same country as you.
- Joining this offer will convert the remaining time on your subscription to time in the new offer, based on the monetary value of the old subscription. For example, a full month of Ultimate will convert to 18 days of subscription for this plan. This way, you won’t lose the remaining value of your existing subscription. The conversion is final and users must wait until their new subscription expires before switching back to an old subscription.
- Conversion is not available to members of guest groups. Before joining a group, a group member can cancel their existing subscription or wait for it to expire. If they don’t have a Microsoft account, invited friends and family will need to create a new Microsoft account and sign in with it to participate.
- Members with Xbox All Access (in supported countries) will not be eligible to participate in this offer.
