Working mom struggles with busy mornings: ‘It’s tough’
Dressing, filling lunch boxes, packing school bags: all before the start of your working day. The morning rush is quite tough for week-long mother Elise Knowles, she writes in a candid Instagram post.
The mother of four encourages other (working) mothers.
Laundry list of tasks
Getting four kids dressed and ready to go to school requires a good deal of multitasking. “It’s hard to make breakfast for four hungry bellies. To listen to all their questions and provide appropriate answers. To put on a bra with a toddler on my arm. To umpire while packing lunch boxes. Not to forget books, sportswear and other items. To keep everyone happy,” says Elise.

Leaving behind at school
But what Elise sometimes finds just as difficult is ‘leaving behind’ her offspring. “They cry and cling to my clothes. I walk away and try to swallow my tears. In the car I burst into tears and ask myself: is this all worth it?” Even when life as a working mother becomes too much for her, Elise gives herself and other mothers a wise lesson. “You’re doing well. There will be other times. You are strong. Tomorrow is another day. And remember, none of us do it perfectly, but every mother does her best.”
