With GeForce Now you can play Cyberpunk 2077 on “old hams”
Given that one of the most anticipated games of the last decade was released on Thursday, we, as game lovers from the CD Projekt RED studio, could not miss it. Since we currently have no iron on which to play Cyberpunk 2077 well, we chose the Nvidia GeForce Now service. What are our impressions of gaming? We will talk about that in this article.

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most challenging games
Cyberpunk 2077 is currently one of the most challenging computer games. On Full HD you must have at least s Core i5-3570K and a graphics card as needed GTX 1050 Ti. But we’re talking about low detail and definitely unstable 60 FPS, so in the finals nothing much experience. According to our search for YouTube, it is more suitable for more comfortable playing something like Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600 and card like GTX 1660, GTX 1070 or RX 580. But even so, you will not play on high details. For them, you will need an even better graphics card, something like GTX 1080 or RTX 2070but we’re not having fun about ray-tracing turned on, which will eat up another pile of power.
Will you start Cyberpunk 2077?
So what if you don’t have a better computer and still want to play Cyberpunk 2077? Forget about the console, where the game looks absolutely appalling so far and is locked at 30 FPS. It is clear that the CD Projekt RED is currently working intensively on a pile of patches, but it will take some time for the game to look good and the images will not fluctuate. So there are two options left – Nvidia GeForce Now and now also Google Stadiums. We immediately ruled out the latter service because we plan to purchase a better gaming machine in the future, so we can now simply pay for a subscription. GeForce Now Founders, and once we have the computer, we can continue the game on it. At Stadia, we don’t like her business model very much.
Cyberpunk 2077 and GeForce Now
Before we launched the game on GeForce Now, it’s worth noting that we’ve never played any games on this service. Yes, we tried Destiny 2 for 15 minutes, but that’s certainly not enough as a test. So we went to the stone shop for the boxed version of the game (due to the soundtrack, map and postcards) and we were looking forward to Friday night. Before we dive into the gameplay itself, we have to adjust the image quality. You need to set it reasonably according to your internet connection. Personally, we do not have fast internet at all. The response is usually around 15 – 30 ms, download around 35-45 Mbps and upload around 30 – 40 Mbps. Of course, we tried the best possible setting first, that is 1920 x 1080 at 60 FPS, where we played the introduction of the game, ie some 4 hours.
Image quality
In our case, the game could be played perfectly well. We did feel a response, and sometimes it happened to automatically reduce the resolution or jammed sound, which spoiled the experience a bit. When reduced to 1600 x 900 and 60 FPS the response improved even more and we didn’t notice for the whole of Sunday no reduction in resolution. So we decided that this setting would be the best for our connection. The game looks quite good on a 21.5 iMac from 2013, even in this resolution, and you can play quite well with the fact that you are able to enjoy details such as ray-tracing. If then we are talking about some 13 ″ or 15 ″ laptop, you are able to play Cyberpunk 2077 comfortably, even in a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.
Of course, GeForce Now is also installed on Nvidia Shield TV, so it would be a great pity not to try to play the game from the comfort of your couch. It is also worth noting that the best connection will be via cable or in the worst case 5 GHz Wi-Fi. If you have 2.4 GHz, definitely always connect with a cable. We played the game on television, which was about a meter and a half away from us and the response was, as on a computer, absolutely minimal. Until we forgot during the game that we do not play on any console or computer, but through the cloud.
Is it worth playing Cyberpunk 2077 via GeForce Now?
So if you don’t want to spend an exorbitant amount for a game set because you know that you will play Cyberpunk 2077 and play nothing more for half a year, Nvidia GeForce Now will be an ideal choice. With a better internet connection, you can also enjoy Full HD at 60 FPS, where a large amount of detail already stands out. Of course, local play will always be better. At a friend we saw Cyberpunk on RTX 3080 and Ryzen 7 3800x and the game looks better. This is because even with GeForce Now, the quality of the stream itself is lost. But it’s not so bad and you will enjoy the game anyway. On the contrary, compared to the Playstation 4 version of the game, the one on GeForce Now looks much better. So the choice is yours.
