Twitter on Apple Watch: Use Chirp
Long ago, Twitter had its own app on the Apple Watch, but that came to an abrupt end. It is still possible to get notifications from Twitter on your Apple Watch, but that’s about it.
Still want to view your Twitter timeline on your Apple Watch? Then you need another app for that. The app that you can use for this is Chirp for Twitter. The app can be downloaded for free from the App Store.

When you install the Chirp app on your iPhone, the app automatically appears on your Apple Watch. Didn’t this happen? Then you need to open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and tap ‘My Watch’. Scroll down and under Chirp for Twitter, under “Available apps,” tap “Install.”
Set up Chirp for Twitter on Apple Watch
- Launch the Chirp for Twitter app on your iPhone;
- Tap ‘Sign in with Twitter’;
- Select your Twitter account and scroll down;
- Tap ‘Authorize app’;
- Chirp asks to follow you on the account, tap ‘Nah’ if you don’t want that;
- Launch the Chirp for Twitter app on your Apple Watch to view the timeline, then tap Home.
The free version of Chirp for Twitter only allows you to view the timeline. You can also like or retweet a tweet, only when you want to send a reply you will run into the paywall.
To respond to a tweet, view your private messages on your Apple Watch, or write a tweet on your Watch, you need to purchase Chirp Pro for $2.99.
