Windows 11 will officially integrate Android applications

During the presentation of Windows 11, Microsoft unveiled a wide range of new features on its next interface. Eventually you will be able to download Android applications directly to your laptop.

This Thursday, June 24, Microsoft unveiled the latest version of its Windows operating system. Well ahead of the conference, a lot of information had already been disclosed by the leakers. The Redmond-based company had nevertheless reserved a few announcements. Windows 11 can for example support the download of Android applications. A rapprochement towards the smartphone desired for several years by the company.

Windows 11 will use the Amazon App Store for built-in Android apps

The smartphone market has always been of great interest to Microsoft. First in terms of product with Surface Duo. Unfortunately this initiative was not crowned with success since the dual smartphone is lagging behind in technology by a few years. With Windows 11, it will now be possible to directly download an Android application from your PC. Microsoft is walking on Apple’s flower beds offering the same system on its Mac PCs. For this service, the Redmond firm turns to the Amazon App Store, the main alternative to the Google Play Store.

In order to download these Android applications, you will need to go through the Microsoft Store in its new version. This has been revised and corrected for Windows 11. If you want to download such software, you will need a Microsoft account and potentially also an Amazon account. During its presentation, the Redmond-based company gave a short demonstration of how it works. Applications available on Android smartphones such as Disney +, TikTok or mobile games will be supported. At the time of writing, the manufacturer’s communication is not yet clear.
