macOS gets Windows 11 with Parallels
Apple has obviously designed its MacBooks and iMacs to run with macOS, but you can run Windows on them thanks to the Parallels Desktop app.
The company behind the app has opposed iMore confirmed that an update will be coming soon that will add Windows 11 support. “We are waiting for the Windows 11 Insider Preview to develop full support for macOS,” said Parallels’ Nick Dobrovolskiy. So it will probably take a while before this update becomes available.
In addition, the app is working to support macOS Monterey, the major Mac update that will be released in the fall of 2021. Typically, Parallels uses the betas of macOS to get the update ready, and it won’t be released until the final release is available. macOS Monterey is not expected to be released until October.
Why Windows on macOS is sometimes useful
Parallels recently received a major update to support M1 Macs. These are the latest Mac models that do not run on a chip from Intel, but on the M1 processor from Apple itself. The app currently supports macOS Big Sur, the current version of Apple’s software.
While a Mac works best with macOS, there are several reasons to sometimes make the switch to Windows. For example, there are specific programs that do not support macOS, which you can still use with an app like Parallels. Even if you want to game on a Mac, the range of games is much larger on Windows.
