Is it time for a delicious beer, but you really have no idea which one to drink or take from the shelf? Open Scover to request personal (beer) advice from Fons to enjoy the moment with the right beer. Not yet 18 years old? Keep in mind that you cannot (read: may) use the app.
Scover: personal beer advice
Do you know which flavors you like, but you really have no idea which beers from the shelf or tap match them? Then an app like Scover is indispensable. The app can use a taste test to find out which beer suits you perfectly. The advice process in Scover is supervised by Fons, a fictional person who will overwhelm you with a taste explosion, provided you fill in the questions correctly, of course.
After you have created an account, Fons asks, for example, what type of apples you like to eat, how you drink coffee (or whether you drink coffee at all) and which flavor should not predominate in a beer.
Different flavor profiles
Scover then gives you a tutorial about the app, before getting to know your own flavor profile. In a graph, where each bar (and color) represents a different flavor profile, Scover shows which flavor profiles suit you best. The bars that rise above the others suit you best. It is possible that several profiles score high. This will then also be reflected in the beers served in Scover.
If you continue, you will see a tab with the beers that the app recommends to you. My beer recommendations are supplied by Corona Extra, but beers such as Apple Bandit, Affligem Blond and Brand Oud Bruin are also advised to me. According to the app, it is important to review the beers after you have tried them. In this way, the app can learn from your taste wishes and adjust your taste profile to be able to give even more effective beer advice.
Similar beers
If you click on a beer in the list of beer recommendations, you will find the flavor profile that matches the beer at the top. Below you will also find a list of locations where the beer is available. Have you already drunk the beer and do you want to discover other beers in the same category? At the bottom you will find a button ‘Show similar beers’, to retrieve other beers in the same category. If you like to discover new beers, this is a must-have app for that reason alone.
By the way, don’t forget to adjust the alcohol percentage to your liking with the beer advice. If you open the beer recommendations for the first time, there will also be 0.0 percent beers. If you like to drink alcohol-free beer, you don’t have to adjust that. Finally, you should also check out the ‘Discover’ tab. By default, the app displays the primary beer recommendations, but by looking in the ‘Discover’ tab, you will also find other – for example summer or ‘BBQ’ – beers that match your taste profile.
