WhatsApp will stop working on all Android versions in 2021
WhatsApp has announced that it will cease support for various devices from 2021. Now that we can no longer do without WhatsApp, it is good to know which devices (Android and iOS) can no longer be used.
WhatsApp support in 2021
WhatsApp is a frequently used application for many. Stay in touch with friends, family and colleagues. Still, things are about to change in the messaging service. From 2021, some Android and iOS versions will no longer be supported. This is mainly the case for older devices, for which WhatsApp is withdrawing support. In January of this year it was already announced that devices with Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread were no longer suitable for WhatsApp. This included various Sony Xperia’s and, for example, the LG Optimus 3D.
From 2021, WhatsApp will stop supporting even more devices. Android devices must now be equipped with Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich or higher. Those with an iPhone must now be running iOS 9 or later to use WhatsApp. As a result, various Android devices will no longer work (smoothly) with WhatsApp from the new year. It concerns previously released devices such as the Sony Xperia Arc, LG Optimus 2X Speed, HTC Sensation, Desire S and various other smartphones, if you still use them or have them in your closet.
WhatsApp will in principle continue to work (for a while), but is no longer updated with new updates. This means that from 2021 onwards the developers can no longer guarantee the possibilities and stability. It is then no longer possible to create new accounts or to log in again. More and more functions will no longer work in WhatsApp in the future.
