WhatsApp will soon stop working if your privacy policy declines

WhatsApp will take action against users who have not accepted the new privacy policy by May 15. The app will then stop working completely. Those who continue to use the app in this way will eventually see their account deleted.

WhatsApp Privacy Policy

WhatsApp caused a lot of controversy when proposing its new privacy rules. The company spelled out more clearly how it shares user data with its parent company Facebook, and as a result, competitors Telegram and Signal saw their user numbers explode. But what if you just don’t accept the privacy policy?

Chances are, of course, that you have already done so, as the notification with the new privacy policy appeared on our phones in January. Yet it was possible not to immediately accept the new rules and use WhatsApp as you are used to. Although that will not last, according to a statement from WhatsApp to a business partner that TechCrunch could view.

Those who do not approve the changes after May 15 will “no longer be able to read and send messages in the app”, the verdict sounds. You can still receive temporary calls and notifications. WhatsApp will also repeatedly ask users to approve the new privacy policy in the coming weeks. The messaging service has also created a page with frequently asked questions in which it provides more information.

Furthermore, WhatsApp’s inactive account policy will take effect from May 15th for affected users. Accounts that show 120 consecutive days of inactivity will be closed by the messaging service, and your messages will only be stored locally on the device. WhatsApp says that in its frequently asked questions.
